The Rockin’ Race Jamboree: A 50’s Music Festival in Torremolinos

Rockin Race Jamboree in TorremolinosNext Wednesday 4th February 2016 sees the start of another edition of the Rockin’ Race Jamboree music festival in Torremolinos. This is the event’s 22nd anniversary and will attract thousands of visitors from all over the world eager to enjoy a fun packed long weekend to the sounds of their favourite musical genre: music with American roots from the 50’s.

This year’s festival’s features  some of the world’s top artists exclusively for the event! There are 28 artists and bands playing during the 4 day event, including:

Torremolinos Hosts the European Dance Championship: 24th February to 1st March

European Dance Championship in TorremolinosFrom the 24th February to 1st March 2014, Torremolinos will host the 25th edition of the European Dance Championships, an event that each year attracts around 1000 participants from all over Europe.

The extensive programme of events will have almost a dozen competitions, all taking place in one location: The ‘Palacio San Miguel’. This year spectators will be able to enjoy the following competitions: The European Combined (Waltz, tango, pasodoble); the Spanish Combined; the European Tango, Waltz, Pasodoble, Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, Rock and Artistic Dance Championships.

To complete the vast programme, there will also be two group competitions: The Spanish Dance Championship and the European Dance Groups Championship. Read More…

Dinosaurios Park: A New Family Attraction in Torremolinos

There’s a fun new exhibition in Torremolinos and it’s got some pretty massive inhabitants… Dinosaurs!

During July, August and September, the Dinosaurios Park exhibition will be located in the main car park of the Torremolinos Exhibition Centre and will provide both entertainment and education for children and parents alike.

An enormous 12 metre tall brachiosaurus will welcome you upon arrival at the exhibition and once inside, you’ll be taken on a fascinating trip into the world of the dinosaurs. There are more than 50 replicas of dinosaurs, many of which are life size!

Here’s a quick summary of what you’ll find at the Dinosaurios Park:

  • Life size Dinosaur fossils
  • Mechanical dinosaurs which come to life with their unique movements and sounds.
  • Realistic scenes that take you back to the dinosaur age.
  • Replicas of dinosaurs that reach 12m in height!
  • The chance to become a palaeontologist for a day by looking for fossils.

Torremolinos Hosts The European Dance Championship 2012

2012 European Dance Championship in TorremolinosAs from next Monday the 27th February 2012 – and until the 3rd March – Torremolinos will be hosting a new edition (the 23rd) of the European Dance Championship.

This important event will attract more than 3000 participants from all overEuropeand will receive wide television and written press coverage.

Those of you who enjoy dancing will be able to visit the Palacio de San Miguel in Torremolinos and watch the great show up close: Tango, Waltz, Pasodoble, Salsa, Rock, Chachachá, Sevillanas, Artistic Dance, and Spanish Dance are just some of the amazing styles and disciplines gracing the dance floors of the Palacio.

The “show” starts on Monday morning (27th February) with the official parade. All the participants will walk the streets of Torremolinos showing off their beautiful dance attire, accompanied by two well known Spanish models – Fran Ramírez and Elisa Guahnich – who will be leading the parade. Reading through our latest reviews on Tripadvisor, I came across a very complementary comment by a guest who recently stayed with us at Sunset Beach Club.

Apart from his very kind words praising our facilities and friendly staff (thank you!), this guest also reminded me of our hotel’s fantastic location as a base to explore other areas and towns on the Costa del Sol. In particular, he made reference to the bus stop just outside the hotel and the fantastic nº120 bus! Yes, we have taxis outside the hotel, but the beauty the 120 bus is that it only costs €1.50 per trip :-) Read More…

Torremolinos Hosts the XXII Edition of the European Dance Championships

European Dance ChampionshipsThis week, Torremolinos has become the European dance capital by hosting the XXII edition of the European Dance Championships.

With more than 1500 dance pairs from all over Europe signed up for the competition, spectators are guaranteed a great show!

The championship started on Monday the 28th February and ends on Saturday 5th March with the grand finals. Today and tomorrow (Friday) there will be qualification heats in the morning (10:00am) in order to choose pairs for the finals which will be held in the evening at the Palacio de San Miguel. Entrance to the heats is free and the evening finals require an entrance fee of €5.

Throughout the whole of this week, spectators have been dazzled by dancers from all over Europe performing a wide variety of dance styles: Waltz, tango, paso doble, artistic dance, chachachá, rock and more…..
